Dr. Pamela Wu, Diplomate American Board of Optometry
Dr. Wu's fascination with preventive care started at a young age, having grown up around her father's own small-town hospital in Taiwan. Moved to Irvine in 1980, she attended Irvine's middle school and then onto University High school. Focused on her lifelong dream, she earned her Doctorate Degree from the top-ranked Southern California College of Optometry in 1997.
Working alongside acclaimed ophthalmologists in Orange & Riverside County, Dr. Wu further her skills in specialty Scleral contact lens fitting and Orthokeratology Therapy. Board-certified in TPA (Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents) in the diagnosis & treatment of ocular diseases including Glaucoma, Dr. Wu familiarizes herself with each of her patients' eye health, focusing on the early illness-detection thereof. After being the Clinic Director of Newport Beach Laser Eye Center, Dr. Wu realized her goal of opening her own Practice in 2001. Over the years, Dr. Wu's trained, dedicated staff embraces and exercises her Motto: thorough patient-care & friendly optical-dispensing. Surely, customer's word-of-mouth contributes to Dr. Wu's expansion. In 2008, a second office opened to devote even more full-range of services including one-hour Lab, evening Hours, Dry Eye Center, Myopic Control Center, corneal rehabilitation, and eye-health education.
Besides patient care, Dr. Wu is also a volunteer for Irvine Animal Care Center where she fosters young or injured pets year round. She is also a busy mother of 3 and she mentors young women of Girl Scout of Orange County. Dr. Thai Tran
Dr. Tran was raised in a family full of healthcare professionals that strived to help others. At an early age, he realized he wanted to make a difference in people’s lives and decided to join his siblings in the healthcare world. His family has always held education in high regard. Among his siblings and himself, there is a Medical Physician, Dentist, Pharmacist, Optometrist, Engineer, and Teacher.
Dr. Tran grew up in Orange County, where he attained his pre-college education. He excelled in his studies at school, where he won a paid trip to France and Spain in a writing competition. Extracurricular activities were very important to him as well. He was gifted with artistic ability, winning a $3000 college savings bond from Coca-Cola in an Art Competition. After high school, Dr. Tran attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where he was awarded his first bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. After graduating from UCSB, Dr. Tran continued his studies at NSU and was awarded a second bachelor’s degree in Vision Science. Dr. Tran attended NSU College of Optometry, where he obtained his Doctor of Optometry Degree. He excelled in his studies and was chosen to participate in an externship program located in Shanghai, China. While in China, he was placed at the Fudan University Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic.
Dr. Tran joined the Spectrum Optometry team in 2014, where he has been able to realize his dream of helping others and to actively contribute to his community with both his passion in art and optometry! Dr. Natalie Chung-Lavinder
Dr. Chung grew up in Central Valley of California where she excelled in her pre-college education. During school, she enjoyed various extracurricular activities such as yearbook, photography, and cross country. It was through her community service with Kiwanis that she realized she wanted to have a career where she could help others. Having worn glasses since she was 8 years old, Dr. Chung decided to shadow her childhood optometrist; from then on, she became fascinated with the field of eye care.
For her undergraduate studies, Dr. Chung attended the University of California, Los Angeles where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Physiological Sciences. In her free time, she became actively involved in the optometric world by volunteering at various optometry offices in Los Angeles County as well as working at the Low Vision Rehabilitation Center in the Jules Stein Eye Institute. After college, Dr. Chung attended the Southern California College of Optometry where she was awarded her Doctor of Optometry Degree. She excelled in her studies and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society. Her clinical training shaped her into a well-rounded eye care provider as she practiced primary care at the Travis Air Force Base Hospital, treated ocular pathology at a community clinic in Downtown LA, and worked alongside ophthalmologists in co-managing cataract and refractive surgery patients in Las Vegas. Dr. Chung and her husband moved closer to Irvine in 2017. She is excited to join Spectrum Optometry team in providing excellent eye care to her community!
